Cropped Out

Now Listening to Without Me – Eminem Cause you “felt so empty without me…” πŸ™‚

Guess who’s back? Yes, that’s right, I am! Did ya miss me?

I have been gone for over a year and it was with good reason… I completed MY MASTERS in COUNSELING! I was not cheating on you guys or anything because everyday from the last post I posted until now, I have thought about blogging nonstop. HONESTLY.

There has been so many inspiring pieces out there, enough to make a style/fashion blogger go insane with material to blog about.

I had to start blogging again… I love doing it.

The 80’s have taken over all department stores for the past year! I love every bit off it. From the bright colors to the mixed patterns to the slouchy pants to the now CROP TOPS!

Image So what is this trend exactly…

The CROP TOP also known as: cropped top, belly shirt, midriff top/shirt or simply cutoff shirt as I call it “the crop” was seen in the mid-80s. Remember the movie Flashdance? Well thanks to the movie, a lot of women began cutting off their tops mainly their workout clothes and wore them over a body suit or tank top. In the 90s we began seeing this trend as more fitted and fashionable. Long sleeve, graphic, logo T’s and even turtle necks were being cropped! I mean cut it out…Literally o_0

Today, we can see nearly any style of the CROP.

Image See what I mean?

A few of my friends have asked me how I would wear a crop and my honest answer is, you can pair it with anything! Look at the above illustration for example.

Here is more…

and more…

Image I love the comfort of the slouchy crops with the maxi shirt. Probably my favorite look πŸ™‚

And for my modest croppers…

There is no wrong doing when it comes to how one can pair their crop top. In some cultures the crop is highly accepted. Check out this old posting of mine Β #TheIndians πŸ™‚

Well I for one love this trend. I actually have one of my mother’s old work out crops from back in the 80s. I wear it around the house and she just smiles and tells me how strange I am for wearing her old clothes(she gets rid of nothing) lol! I am an 80s girl and my friends can tell you that :).

A little cropping never hurt anyone… ask a photographer πŸ˜›

Thanks for having me back readers!

I can sleep better knowing that I posted something lol

As always thanks for reading

Don’t forget to smile in all you do πŸ™‚

Let’s Garba Baby!

Hello hello!

So I hope you are having a lovely Sunday because I know that I surely am. I got to sleep in for crying out LOUD. πŸ™‚

On to the topic at hand…

So a few weeks ago I left San Antonio to my home Arlington, TX to meet up with two of my girlfriends in Dallas, TX. I was in town so that means that there is a chance that we might go BUCK-WILD…wait, what am I saying, we always go bananas when we link up! LOL

So anyway, I was in town for GARBA! Clueless? Well no worries, I will fill you in πŸ™‚

Garba is a dance! An Indian traditional dance which originated from the Gujarat region. In many instances, the traditional Garba is performed around a central lit lamp with pictures/statues of different avatars of Goddesses. I believe at the one I attended I saw some framed photos surrounded by lots and lots of fruit and candles. It was really hard to see exactly what was on the table or to take a photo of the table because it was so packed! There was a lot of spiritual dances going on. If you leave a Garba without sweating then you must have not been there because it is an active event! LOL

So in order to keep you from suffering from boredom with facts and what not, I have photos of my glorious evening with my fellow Hindus…have a look see πŸ™‚

We are ready to Garba!

One must take shoes off before entering…

I am loving those flats!! oh and also remembering where you placed your shoes is IMPERATIVE!

There is a LIVE BAND at Garba

You dance at Garba

There are so many “Line dances” all done in a circular motion, revolving around the center pieceΒ  might I add. Time in Hinduism is cyclical. Wowzer!

You need a partner so that you can dance with sticks at Garba

Oh before I forget, there is a strong chance of leaving a Garba with a bruise or two. Also be prepared to get your toes stepped on. πŸ™‚

You pray at Garba

How do people dress at Garba?

Work that three-piece at Garba

You wear a lot of Bangles at Garba

Close up!

The women are in so much jewelry that by the end of each dance, you see more and more pieces of on the floor(you notice as you step on them lol). At times these pieces might come from the hair accessories, beads on clothing…etcetera.

Checkout the Gents!

My Indians Vruta and Bhavisha

Whelp, I hope this post brought you some understanding of what Garba is, and if it didn’t…you must simply attend one.

Don’t be a baby, Garba!

As always, thanks for reading and stopping by of course!

Smile in whatever you do πŸ™‚

Cheers- POB

Summer to Fall: the Transition

The weather is changing and so is the fashion! Eeek!! I’m prepared…are you?

Well don’t fear because you have read(I hope) some of my blogs, which talk about the things you can wear whilst you enjoy winter wonderland as it approaches. πŸ™‚

I mean summer is great if you enjoy the outdoors and bugs and what not BUT let’s be real, Fall to Winter weather totally ROCKS when it comes to style.

Now let the transition begin…muaaaahaaaha

So this Summer was full of the Hi-Lo trend which I absolutely loved! If you do not own any at all, I highly suggest that you do! If you have read andΒ

then you can do this…

THAT was easy!

Like seriously… if you own enough boots, leggings, leg-warmers, and everything warm-ish, then you are prepared for Old Man Winter. YES!

How about this…

you know you wanna!

I have a weird feeling that this trend might be really popular this coming season! YIKES πŸ™‚

Simple start racking up on Cardigans, scarves, neck tubes, hats and everything warm-ish, so that you can do things like this…

….in the Fall. Try it!

Oh before I forget, you should read Β so that you can try…

whelp if nothing else…I hope you found this to be helpful and exciting? LOL.

Remember to smile like —->>> πŸ™‚ in whatever you do.

Hello fellow friends and comrades! πŸ™‚

School and work took over my life these past few months…or Martians.

I always thought about blogging and what to blog about.

I made a list of “must blog” but did not get a chance to do so… Sorry.

I missed the whole summer season but it’s alright, FALL is what I do best anyway.

We can always show summer and fall together. Integrate I say!Β

I hope you missed me because I missed YOU!

Sock Hop Fashion Show

Currently listening to: “Grease is the word”- Frankie Valli

So this past weekend, Saturday evening toΒ  be exact, I had the to opportunity to go to a fashion show in Downtown Austin, Tx. Yahoo!

It was 50s inspired so therefore there was a sock hop after the show ended. It was really awesome to have seen more than half of the people who attended dressed up for the event. From the hair down to the shoes there was the smell of 50s Vintage in the air lol.

I was able to snap a few photos with my phone so be warn, the quality wasn’t too great lol. ohh and it is also blurry πŸ™‚

On a positive note, almost all the models posed for me when they first made it on the RUNWAY, I was standing at a good spot πŸ™‚

I am not a professional lol

It’s a two piece!

She looked straight at my Camera Phone πŸ™‚

Poodle skirt turned mini lol

You know you wanna πŸ˜‰

He must’ve had a long day. Sleepy eyes

She was working it! πŸ™‚

Cute Pose

The Shoes! The Hair! She Ruled!

Twas a cross between feminine and masculine and i loved it!

Wish you could see the whole dress! It was my fave! Salute to the Navy!!

So there you are. There were a few outfits I didn’t get to capture but for the most part I did my best to share with you such a great experience. Thanks to my awesome friend Daniela, I was able to attend such a great event!

Hope you enjoyed my sock hopping adventure and you might have been singing a song from Grease or something because I know I was lol… or maybe not πŸ™‚

“Grease is the Word”

As always, thanks for reading πŸ™‚

Until next time…

has made a comeback!

I am sure you are wondering what on earth isΒ  this peculiar word(Peplum) might mean, and for those who do not know, it is derived from the Greek wordΒ  peplos which means shawl.

Still confused? okay…so according to the research I did(yes, research) thisΒ  means that, peplum is basically ruffles, flared out ruffles to be exact which is attached to the waist of a jacket, blazer, dress, bodice, skirt, etcetera…

Still not getting a mental image??

How about some photos…:)

This was the Peplum in the 1940s!

okay, so during the 1940s and 1980s, the peplum was really popular, and as you can see from the above photos…they are very sophisticated! I mean when I see this I think of the First Lady or even a Duchess of some sort lol.

You can find a more modernized style in almost any department store. TRUE STORY

I love these dresses!

You know you wanna πŸ™‚

I purchased a summer blazer and did not realize it was peplum( I had to do some research and this was when I discovered what peplum was)Β  until I tried it on and I was in LOVE! I loved the way it looked on me. I felt as though I could go have tea and crumpets with the queen πŸ™‚

Peplum creates an illusion effect in hiding wideΒ  hips… makes you appear slimmer ladies! Wowzer!

As far as accessorizing…opt for SIMPLE. Peplum is strong statement piece on it’s own. TRY IT.

If nothing else…give it a try, you want to wear it. πŸ™‚

As always, thanks for stopping by!

I hope you found this helpful or at least entertaining πŸ™‚

Cheers -POB

More and more inspired by Menswear. Stay tuned… πŸ™‚
